TRAINING DEPARTMENT

Background: 

Agricultural extension agents and farmers training department started its work in 1999 as a training center for agricultural extension officers and farmers with the help from the EUs.
In 2002 the center became under the full responsibility of the governmental budget.

Targets:

  1. Identify the training needs for the agricultural extension officers and the farmers through collaborating with other related departments.
  2. Planning the training course programs and applies them in coordinating with other departments.
  3. Availability of the training programs to raise the efficiency of the officers in the extension sector.
  4. Suggesting and applying the yearly work plan.

The functions of the Department:

In 2008 and after the merge between the research and extension the training directorate had achieved the training program for the target group (extension officers ,farmers and rural women) as been planed in the directorate annual plan 2008.

The achievement for all programs were higher than the what was panned in the 2008 plan and even the privies years, the center had concentrate the work and was able to achieve the work in  a professional way at the center level  and the field level.

Agricultural Extension Officers and Farmers Training Directorate consist of 3 divisions as follows.

Department Divisions:

  1. Agricultural extension officers training division.
  2. Farmers training division.
  3. Evaluating and adoption division.

1. Agricultural extension officers training division.

  • Identify the training needs for the agricultural extension agents.
  • Designing the training programs according to the identified needs.
  • Applying the training programs.
  • Making the training courses evaluations and writing the reports.

2. Farmers training division:

  • Identify the training needs for the farmers and rural women.
  • Designing the monthly training programs for the farmers and the rural women in the rural areas  according to the identified needs.
  • Applying the training programs with the assistant of the extension field units.
  • Preparing the training programs evaluations and writing the reports.
  • Preparing the monthly report.

3. Evaluating and adoption division:

  • Preparing the yearly plan for the department according to needs of the extension officers and the farmers and rural women.
  • Collecting all reports from other divisions.
  • Preparing and applying socioeconomic studies to measure the training programs effects on the target groups.
  • Preparing the yearly report for the department.
